A Small Town Girl

Where are you from?

I grew up on a farm in a teenie-tiny town in Ontario. By teenie I mean we only had one stoplight, less than a handful of restaurants, and it wasn’t uncommon to drive three minutes out of town and find some cows that had gotten out and were on an adventure. But we did have a Tim Hortons...so our coffee fix was always met!

Why copy?

Coming from a small town, my high school only had the basics. I honestly didn’t even know it was an option back then.

Instead, I went to school to become a Child and Youth Worker. I’ve always had a strong desire to support the struggling youth in our world. It can get lonely (and dark) out there, and I always wanted to help bring some light into the darkness.

After graduating, I spent nearly a decade in elementary schools, helping my students find their voices in a loud world. From building individualized success plans, responding to crises, and offering stability to explore challenging emotions and strengthen their regulation skills, I loved helping my students grow and thrive.

When a copywriting course fell into my lap it became crystal clear that I could transfer all these skills over to create highly converting material for mental health and wellness professionals. It was the dream. So, I took the course and dove in headfirst.

And now, here we are.

If you’re still curious, email me and let’s get to know each other!

Have you always wanted to write?

Absolutely. I used reading and writing as a way to escape during my childhood. I’d build up these intricate stories and places and I’d whisk myself away to them when things got a bit too heavy. I quickly discovered that writing holds some serious power...and I thrived in it.
